Leather: Second Skin 23.11.12-22.01.13

Pipes & Sneakers visited the opening event of the new exhibition at Fashion Space Gallery: Leather- Second Skin. Also, celebrating the 125th anniversary of Cordwainers at London College of Fashion.
"The exhibition will provide visitors with the rare opportunity to see new and commissioned work by Cordwainers at London College of Fashion students and alumni, alongside leading footwear, accessories and artefact practitioners and designers."

The work by Dai Rees, Oliver Ruuger, Rob Goodwin and Volker Koch all portrayed different, beautiful and unconventional pieces encompassing the beauty of the leather, and the fine details demonstrated the artists' talent.

At the launch event, a skilled Cordwainers graduate was designing and making a leather bag without using any machinery, just by hand. Which looked pretty tough. The completed work will also be displayed at the exhibition.

We recommend you check out this exhibition.

Donna Karan

The past week has been filled with exclusive events all arranged around one amazing American designer- Donna Karan. On Tuesday she opened a new boutique in Harvey Nichols, which included a fabulous fashion show. At the same time she was raising awareness for Hearts 4 Haiti, a non-profit organization that Donna Karan supports, created to aid Haiti through its devastation.

On Wednesday House of Tribeca visited the Donna Karan boutique on Conduit Street for the launch of the book: Stephan Weiss - Connecting the Dots, which was created as a tribute to her late husband. She was a perfect host whilst signing the copies of her new book. During the launch, the boutique portrayed some of the beautiful art work by Stephan Weiss, which harmonized perfectly with her new collection and the store interior. It was a night filled with inspiration - not alone Donna Karan’s radiant personality, but also the inspiring book and art work by Stephan Weiss.

William Eggleston

For some pure visual photographic inspiration I love to look at the work of William Eggleston.
He manages to create a beautiful atmosphere in all his work, focusing just on commonplace subjects.

Enjoy looking at his inspiring work:

BROMPTON

Think the decadence of rock n’ roll minded within a sophisticated private members club setting and you have arrived at the Brompton club, South Kensington.

Brompton’s re-invention has already made it to one of London's most sought-out party spots, reaching its full capacity three nights in a row last weekend!

It is the perfect place for an after-work dinner, and it will most definitely not disappoint you if you wish to continue the celebrations later on into the night. Its nightclub promises you a long night of extravaganza, excess and dancing to the beats of internationally renowned DJs.

Being a members’ only establishment, it allows for intimacy, attracting an international, young, hedonistic crowd, which already boasts a roster of A-list jet-setters, such as the likes of the Kooks, Duffy, Cara Delevingne and many more.

Currently it is housing the delicious pizza pop-up restaurant PIZZALUXE, giving you the energy to celebrate into the early hours. Whilst sitting at your table, Brompton offers you the luxury of being able to "press for Patron" and getting served some quality shots straight to your table only by pressing a button.

Also, from December onwards, Wednesdays will offer you Patron, Model Parties and Live Gigs. All in all a club not to miss!

If you are intrigued by this exciting new establishment, then do not hesitate to check it out and for any further questions re. membership and reservations get in touch with the Brompton crew: Antoin Commane, Diego Biviero Volpe and Tobias C. Urban.

Maison Martin Margiela x H&M

Here we go again, H&M has another exciting collaboration coming up very soon (15-11-2012). We are highly anticipating the Maison Martin Margiela x H&M collection! H&M does pull-out some fantastic designer collaboration's and this time this will surely not disappoint. I believe that this collection has the potential to re-define mainstream fashion boundaries. Hopefully creating a more general daring approach to dressing and being eccentric - allowing to depart from the conventional and established norm or pattern. Hurray to this new unconventional fashion collaboration and the evolution of fashion creativity.

"The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further. We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all.” (Press Release M.M.M. @ H&M
